Introducing: Jam Xpress

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on October 31, 2010 by silenceisboring

Let me introduce you to Australia’s No. 2 ranked D Andy Murphy and his vocal house side project Jam Xpress. Basically he has OneLove and their tons of cash behind him so that they are able to be ”bringing big room super disco-influenced club music to a discotheque near you TONIGHT!”

Hooray…

Anyway, with cash comes good remixes, and the remix package is extremely impressive – DJ Rockid, Louis La Roche and Lifelike etc.

The Lifelike one is espically nice.

Introducing: Mobroder

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on October 30, 2010 by silenceisboring

Funnily enough, Mobroder is actually Spank RockDJ Hoff, and Blu Jemz‘s concept of one of the most successful disco stars from the “‘70s searching for his soul in an ‘80s Miami”. The Scion A/V Remix series recently released a compilation of free remixes of said ‘artist’, featuring more than impressive reworks by ShazamIn FlagrantiNile Delta and more.

These are the highlights:

Introducing: Strange Talk

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on October 29, 2010 by silenceisboring

Yet another amazingincrediblesuperbuzz band from Melbourne, Australia. In the same vein of their Aussie counterparts Cut Copy and Gypsy & The Cat etc. comes Strange Talk.

The band actually are good friends with Gypsy & The Cat and are also known as their remixing moniker Thieves Of Aon. They released ‘Eskimo Boy’ out onto the net earlier this year and I’m guessing the multitude of promoters/records labels who heard it fought over them and immediately snapped them up.

Soon to be featured on the latest Kitsune Maison Compilation, the boys from Strange Talk have only big things coming to them, and with weapons like ‘Climbing Walls’ and ‘Eskimo Boy’, it’s no surprise.

Bonus Round:

Everyone’s favourite remixer Aeroplane transforms ”The Piper’s Song” by Gypsy & The Cat from Fleetwood Mac-esque soul / soft rock into a glittering cosmic disco number.

Munk – Mondo Vagabondo & Remix Contest

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on October 28, 2010 by silenceisboring

Munk is a German electronica producer who basically emits cool. One of the older from the Nu-disco crowd, and label boss of the very impressive and one of my favourite record labels Gomma, Munk is a busy man, but luckily knowns his shit.

Earlier this month he released his ‘Mondo Vagabondo’ EP and the reaction has been highly successful. Amazing tracks include ‘Violent Love’, the fun loving ‘Ay-Ga-Cha’ and the first single off the album and the first single from Munk in over 2 years, ‘La Musica’.

To celebrate the EP release and in anticipation for his third album release (February 2011), Munk is holding a remix for the first track on the EP, the very funky ‘Violent Love’.

Surkin x Lightyear

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on October 27, 2010 by silenceisboring

Hopefully I don’t have to remind you of the brilliance of both Surkin and Light Year. If you need some help, back in 2006, a 21 year old French DJ known as Surkin released a track titled ‘Radio Fireworks’, that soon became one of the most played tracks in clubs worldwide. He recently released a 3 track EP ‘Silver Island’. Light Year are Australian producers who, about a year ago, released their debut EP ‘Night/Vision’ with a highly positive reception.

Now, when you put them both together, you get this delicious piece of work:

Olympia (Alternative Mixes)

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on October 27, 2010 by silenceisboring

Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry released his 13th album Olympia yesterday. Quite an effort. The pop rock singer collaborated with various artists including Scissors Sisters, Groove Armada, Nile Rodgers, Brian Eno and a whole lot more. To say the least, it’s incredible.

The ‘deluxe’ package comes with a 2nd disc titled the ‘Alternative Mixes’ comprising of 6 delectable remixes and an instrumental. To no surprise, Fred Falke appears on the disc, and delivers one of his better remixes. Highly recommended.

In September, Mark Ronson released his 3rd full length studio album Record Collection. Now the third single off the album, ‘Somebody To Love Me’, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Boy George, is due out on the 6th of December and comes with remixes from Herve and NYC electronic gurus Holy Ghost!

That’s right, Holy Ghost! and yes, it’s amazing.

Difficult (Azari & III Remix)

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on October 22, 2010 by silenceisboring

Like most, I hate Uffie. She doesn’t seem to have a musical bone in her body. She singtalks, which I despise. Her last album, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans was terrible and personally I would appreciate if she just stopped

The show, unfortunately, goes on though, with her next single ‘Difficult’. The track was produced by SebastiAn and the single comes quite a cool video and two remixes, one by SebastiAn and the other by Canadian electronic foursome Azari & III.

Thankfully, the latter removes the ‘vocals’, and transforms the track into an epic 6 minute long nu-disco journey and the result is very enjoyable.

Introducing: The Glass

New York / German indie dance duo The Glass are back and releasing their next album At Swim Two Birds in November. To celebrate the release they are giving away their first single ”Four Four Letter”. It’s was featured in Aeroplane‘s latest DJ mix and is a bit disco, a bit soft pop, and a bit amazing.

Introducing: Boss In Drama

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on October 20, 2010 by silenceisboring

I’ve been a huge fan of Boss In Drama (previously Bo$$ In Drama) for a while now, but I was shuffling my iPod today one track of his tracks randomly came on and I decided that I would do a post of his stuff today. So I thought I’d do some digging.

You see, before now, I actually thought he just had that first EP, ‘Your Favourite’ but to my astonishment I find that he has re-released a couple of tracks off the EP back in June this year and now they are on iTunes.

Not only that but I then find his INCREDIBLE remix of the new Daft Punk produced N.E.R.D. song ‘Hypnotize U’. It’s freaking me out – how god damn good it is.

Move over Ronaldinho, Brazil has a new hero (he doesn’t play football, but he does sound kinda like Breakbot).

Introducing: The Baldives

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on October 20, 2010 by silenceisboring

Meet The Baldives, yet another amazing disco house duo out of Sydney, Australia made up of a classically trained pianist / bass player and back up vocalist. They’re all about bringing fun back into the Sydney scene, and also describe their sound as ‘Who-Cares-House’, to which I find absolutely delightful.

But really, they are talented producers who have made one of the catchiest tracks I’ve heard in a while. ”Down & Out” will make you smile, and will bring much joy back into your miserable mid-week existence. The free little package comes with remixes from OHYEAH, Digital Human and fellow Sydney-sider The Gripp. Highly recommended.
