Robyn Remixed

Following her amazing Body Talk series, the worlds coolest and one of the most underrated popstar, Robyn, is now releasing the remixes for ”Indestructible”. Boy are they good.

Most of you have already downloaded A-Trak‘s spectacular remix of the track. A-track’s remixes are always exciting because they’re quality. Top notch quality. This is up there with his Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sebastien Tellier remixes.

Grum Lovin’

I missed this, but The Aston Shuffle released their ”Your Love” EP on Downright mid October. The Australian house producers picked some great remixers, Burns and Grum, to add their reworks to the release. The result is Fan bloody tastic.

Pet Shop Boys x Grum

Pet Shop Boys briefly returned to the spotlight last month with the release of their Best Of compilation Ultimate, complete with new track ”Together”.  Last week the track saw it’s own release in the form of an EP and also a remix EP. Deliciously, Grum‘s remix of ”West End Girls”  was included on the latter. Perfect to get your boogie on.

Zingaro

”Zingaro”, the new single by Shinichi Osawa was released last month on Southern Fried Records. I never really got around to listening to it, but  it’s quite a bit of fun, but the real hidden treasure lies in the remix package. Fabian, The Kids Are Radioactive and LightsoverLA are on the bill, all providing tasty reworks worthy of many a dance on the floor.

Fabian’s is especially delicious.

Introducing: TYSON

Recently, an enthusiastic producer from London contacted me asking me to check out some of his tracks. This isn’t a freak occurrence – I constantly get emails from new upcoming producers, however whether or not they are decent is questionable.

TYSON however got in touch, and I had a listen to his track and fell in love. It’s bloody brilliant! ”Die On The Dance Floor” is a Hi-NRG track reminiscent of the late 1970s that screams fun.

TYSON was nice enough to forward on his ‘extended mix’ for you all to enjoy, get into it!

Shook / M.I.A

After his extremely popular Phoenix remix, Netherlands electro-funk producer Shook has just released his M.I.A. remix on the blogosphere. It’s already making it’s way up the hype machine chart, and for good reason – it’s brilliant.

Introducing: Super Galactic Funk

Australian-born-Chinese-electronic-disco-jazz-funk-hi-there producer Poony-K and African American jazz pianist graduate Percy Jones III are the unlikely duo that make up SGF-1 (Super Galactic Funk). Having met in a bar in Kobe, Japan, the pair joined forces, added their own musical styles and forged together a surprisingly smooth, free flowing and highly addictive musical entity.

Their first release ‘Castor Sugar’ is a funky, disco explosion that will draw you in and not let you go. The EP comes with some fantastic remixes from G.L.O.V.E.S, Get Stellar and Astrolabe and two delicious originals.

Introducing: Mickey Cupid

Marcus Harmon & Matt Nannetti are two young blokes who teamed up to make music earlier this year and already have released their debut EP ‘Hey Crazy World’, under the musical moniker Mickey Cupid. Pretty impressive eh? Due to the young age of the band, I can’t say they have caught the ears of many, however with the quality of their tracks I can’t imagine them being a secret for too much longer.

The EP itself combines pop, funk and disco and is highly refreshing and is being given away totally free! Highlights include ”1994”, ”Give Me A Chill” and ”Keep It In Disguise”.

Discodeine & Jarvis Cocker

Britpop legend Jarvis Cocker has lent his signature vocals on ”Synchronize”, the first single off French duo Discodeine‘s forthcoming album. The ex-Pulp frontman’s vocal work blends effortlessly with the duo’s house synthesizers and 70s string arrangements and we are left with, what can only be described as, audio perfection.

”Synchronize” was released on October 4th on Colette Records, however is being re-released in the states on DFA today.

Tapeaters’ Satellite

It’s been a while since we have had anything to report on Russian synthpop duo The Tapeaters. About two weeks ago, they released their debut album Visions on OMG! Recordings. To make way for the album, they released the first single off the album, ”Satellite” in November. The sexual, catchy and ridiculously funky track has been playing on my iPod ever since.

The single comes with remixes by some big players, with Lifelike, Ghost Of Venice and Xinobi providing some excellent reworks.

Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me)

Even though it’s freezing cold and snowing outside, you can’t help but think of summer disco dancing when you hear the new track from Burns and Fred Falke. Famous for the cute dog video clip, the brilliant ”Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me)” has been one of my most played track for the last month – can’t get enough.

Introducing: Jen Bloom

Californian based singer songwriter Jen Bloom is the first signing to Monstr music. The brand new label has released her first single, ”All I’m Dreaming Of”, an electro pop anthem capable of delighting anyone from the commuters to the ravers.
