Lady Gaga: Born This Way Remixes

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on March 22, 2011 by silenceisboring

Unsurprisingly, Lady Gaga‘s ”Born This Way” received a massive remix treatment, with twelve artists supplying their own take on the track and it all being released earlier this month in it’s very own remix EP.

Out of the twelve, I’ve chosen three remixes that really stick out for me. Twin Shadow‘s remix shines above all others as he strips nearly all the synths and turns up the bass and really makes something special, while Starsmith and Grum do their fantastic usual.

I missed this, but The Aston Shuffle released their ”Your Love” EP on Downright mid October. The Australian house producers picked some great remixers, Burns and Grum, to add their reworks to the release. The result is Fan bloody tastic.

Pet Shop Boys x Grum

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on December 11, 2010 by silenceisboring

Pet Shop Boys briefly returned to the spotlight last month with the release of their Best Of compilation Ultimate, complete with new track ”Together”.  Last week the track saw it’s own release in the form of an EP and also a remix EP. Deliciously, Grum‘s remix of ”West End Girls”  was included on the latter. Perfect to get your boogie on.

The Wombats New Single

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on September 27, 2010 by silenceisboring

After their extremely successful 2007 album A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, Liverpool indie pop 3 piece The Wombats are back with a brand new single ”Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)”. This new track is a lot more ‘dancey’ and ‘synthy’ than their other songs, and it looks like they are going to go in that direction. No complaints here. Also comes with a brilliant remix by pop remixer legend, Grum.

Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) is out today on 14th floor records.

Introducing: Gamble & Burke

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on September 2, 2010 by silenceisboring

It seems like everyone and their grandma has already blogged about Gamble & Burke but, as I’ve been away for awhile and trying to catch up, I thought I’d post some of their seriously orgasmic pop stylings anyway.

Featured on the latest Kitsune compilation they were sure to get some attention and with their EP ‘Let’s Go Together’ released last week featuring said track and some spantastic remixes it’s quite hard not to get on it. You’ll dance, you’ll smile, you may even do both.

Spectacular remixes all round though, seeing as Grum is one of the best pop remixers around at the moment it’s not surprising that his remix steals the show.

Grum Can’t Shake This Feeling

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on August 14, 2010 by silenceisboring

Our favourite little remixer Grum, released his single ‘Can’t Shake This Feeling’ yesterday on We Play! Records. Even though I was kind of disappointed with said track, he has gone and remixed his own track (the ‘Club Mix’), which, after the first listen, instantly left me jaw dropped and feeling the love.

So posts for July were somewhat nonexistent at Silence Is Boring. Due to lack of internet in my new apartment, things were looking grim, but thankfully due to Virgin media we didn’t run into August and internet is back up and running. So, for catching up purposes – here’s a bunch of tracks you might like. Let them be the soundtrack for your weekend.

Introducing: Everything Everything

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on August 2, 2010 by silenceisboring

“Because he was looking at me like Woahh ohh ohh”

Manchester quartet Everything Everything are exploding into 2010, with their latest single ‘MY KZ, UR BF’ (My Keys, Your Boyfriend) making waves practically everywhere. The ridiculously catchy tune has been on repeat all day and I just can’t stop listening.

In 2007 frontman Johnathon Higgs collected some school and university buddies and started making music. It seems now in 2010, that their forward thinking quirky pop is getting the attention it deserves.

Oh Yes!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on June 29, 2010 by silenceisboring

We all really do love Marina and her diamonds. We’re all allowed our guilty pleasures. Her next single is fucking amazing, ”Oh No” is definitely the highlight of the album and is a perfect example of good pop music. Legend turn producer, Grum puts his take on it, spices things up with some funk and running bass lines. Great stuff!

Introducing: Grum

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on May 24, 2010 by silenceisboring

Most of you would already know Grum. He’s that dude from Leeds who’s remixed nearly everyone, and has a passion for producing delicious disco house.

Exactly a week ago he unleashed his debut album Heartbeats. I’ve been listening to the album non-stop since I got my sweaty hands on it and just like today, it’s shit hot.

Introducing: NightBus

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on April 20, 2010 by silenceisboring

Straight outta Hackney comes four piece disco pop outfit NightBus. They met on the 345 to Brixton on Boxing Day 2008, and began singing acappella versions of their favourite songs to pass the time. Soon afterwards friendships formed and they found themselves on the very same bus nearly every night and in time started recording their own tunes with a laptop over samples and drum beats.

Now they’ve signed with Island and are setting off on the wildest road trip of their lives. You can’t help but want to join them, their infectious catchy Madonna-esque single ‘I Wanna Be You’ out May picks you up, pays your fare and gives you a seat.
